Bug Description

If the /home/user/.kde4/share/ folder is not removed before X starts the title bar with the minimize & close buttons are missing, windows can't be resized & keyboard input in dialog boxes fails I.E. sudo box for adept etc. Shutdown locks up halfway down & forced shutdown with power button is necessary.

OS Kubuntu 8.04 & 8.10 DE is KDE4 (no problems in KDE3)

Video driver is Nvidia Quadro 140 laptop (Lenovo/IBM T61)

I have the same symptoms. KDE4.0.4 on Kubuntu Hardy AMD64. I have a GeForce7600GS with the 169.XX drivers.

I did find something like a workaround, but it is a bit slow at best. When logged in, try to log out. The logout popup box takes a lot of time to load, but it appears eventually. Logging out takes about 2 minutes. Having done this, login again and all appears to be fine. Networkmanager loads, my pager shows the correct number of desktops, et cetera.

My log files did not show anything unusual as far as I could see and I did not see any error messages. I'd like to help out more, but this is all I know ATM. :/

I cannot speak for the OP, but the 4.0.5 version does not appear to have the symptoms described above. Ever since upgrading several days ago, I have not had any issues. Thanks! :)
