Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please answer these questions:

This will help us to find and resolve the problem.

Can you add an example stream?

It is reproducible:
1) Launch vlc by command "vlc http://195.248.86.140/player/34/3492_1.wmv"
2) Try to pause playback.

I am not sure, if the stream is available outside Finland. Can anybody else confirm the bug?

There have been a large number of bugfixes with the latest VLC release, 1.0.0~rc2-1ubuntu1. Can you reproduce your issue with this latest version? You can test this in Ubuntu Karmic, or Ubuntu Jaunty with the MOTU Media PPA at https://launchpad.net/~motumedia/+archive/ppa . Thanks in advance.

The new one (1.0.0-rc2) pauses but does not resume playback. You have to restart vlc and the stream after a pause. The video is stuck paused until vlc is restarted.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner.
There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test the current Ubuntu development version (10.10). If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect <bug #>, and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
