Bug Description

Binary package hint: gedit

I have upgraded from Gutsy to Hardy. All was working fine, and after finally getting my wireless card to work, this happened

When I try to create a new file with either program, or I press the 'open' icon in either application, it automatically closes. This also occurs in GIMP

If I open an existing file and edit it, I can save it, however, if I try to create a new one, as soon as the 'save' icon is pressed, the application closes

I can create and open and save when I am logged in as root

I have checked permissions, and everything seems to be fine.

Here's a backtrace of Gedit.

Simply started program and clicked on Open button.

Can open a file through file browser but if I try and do a save as, program just dies.

Same with Gimp and OO.

thanks but the trace is missing some symbols, may you please install the following packages: gedit-dbgsym, libgtk2.0-0-dbgsym, libglib2.0-0-dbgsym and get a new one? thanks.

I did have the same problem.

I fix this.

I have edited file
/home/ulises2k/.gtk-bookmarks
and eliminated "odd" caracter. It is "º".
Automatically worked gedit, openoffice, etc.

I have Ubuntu 8.04 update
