Bug Description

Binary package hint: synaptic

I installed Hardy Heron 64bits last night
Also installed several software packages like udftools and JRE 6.0
No flash plugin yet
Im using a profile located on my data hard disk so I can use it in my windows partition too
Firefox had about 5 or 6 tabs opened at the time of the crashes
The first time it crash after hitting the "C" key in gmail to compose new mail. The program closed by itself
Then I opened FF again and it offered me to restore previous session, which I did
Again the same problem occurred 5 more times soon after the browser was opened

NOTE: I use firefox 2 in the windows environment with the same profile
After the problems and before this bug was written, flash player installation failed 3 times. The 4th was successful and you see me writing the bug.

please give the result of apt-cache policy firefox
Try if you still have craches with a clean profile using: firefox -safe-mode
Or try to get a backtrace: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MozillaTeam/Bugs

Waiting for results.

Firefox 3b5 is much more stable if the profile directory resides in the default system location. I was searching a backup of that directory in a different disk drive, obviously a different path.

user@computer:~$ apt-cache policy firefox

Do you still have any problem with firefox 3.0.3?

I think the real problem is nvidia software with nautilus, metacity or compiz. Everytime I have special window effects I have frequent problems. Doesn´t happen in my other computer at work without propietary drivers, there, my especial window effects are as stable as hunger in the world... nobody crashes.

So set to invalid. You may look for reports that speak about nvidia and compiz... I think there is a lot...
Feel free to repoen it if necessary.
