Cant use FFMPEG to converte a MP4 movie to AVI because LIBFAAD in HARDY, but works on Gutsy

I use FFMPEG with Gutsy, but after installed Hardy the LIBRARY for aac called LIBFAAD was replaced with one that makes a lot of errors, and does not work.

Comand example ffmpeg -i imput.mp4 -vcodec xvid output.avi

In Gutsy works, and in Hardy do not.

since you examined that the problem is caused due to a broken faad library, the bug should be assigned there. Moreover, would you mind trying the lastest ffmpeg package from intrepid? You can find backported packages in the motumedia PPA.

I did what Reinhard suggested and tried the backported packages from the motumedia PPA (on Hardy, amd64).
For some files that produced the same behaviour as described (here and in the report referenced by Javisan) there are now no more error messages / segfaults. Instead ffmpeg reports:

Unsupported codec (id=86018) for input stream #0.0

The audio format is recognized as: mp4a / 0x6134706D, 44100 Hz, stereo

Can you try with a jaunty alpha 3 image? (vm or live cd -> aptitude install is acceptable)

Tested with Jaunty Alpha 3 -> seems to work (I tested a few movies with aac sound and some aac audio files)
