Bug Description

Running Ubuntu 8.04, Set up a new instrument "Other", set recording inputs to the one visible sound device. Tried to record, received message:
Argh! Something went wrong and a serious error occurred:

Could not open resource for writing.

gstalsasink.c(697): gst_alsasink_open (): /timeline/playbackbin/alsasink0:
Playback open error on device 'value': No such file or directory

ALSA problem? or input device problem?

This "value" device was Jokosher bug but has now been fixed in the next version.

There is a workaround which requires that you manually set your alsa device. Go to preferences, and in the "Output" menu select ALSA. Then in the "Device" menu select either Default or the sound card you want to use. This should fix the problem.

Having the exact same error message on Ubuntu 8.04 with Jokosher 0.10 installed (from a .deb from http://www.jokosher.org/download). Setting the device manually does not help and does not change the error.

If setting the device manually does not fix the problem, you can delete your Jokosher config file which is located at /home/<username>/.jokosher/config. After deleting this file Jokosher will use the defaults for all preferences.
