Bug Description

Binary package hint: hplip

After the installation (ext3) of Ubuntu 8.04 (language=FR) on my HP Pavilion zt3330EA laptop and all the proposed updates, I also installed the HPLIP Toolbox (with the proposed associated s/w) for my HP OfficeJet 7140xi printer (all-in-one connected by LAN).
During the setup of the printer, HPLIP s/w stopped working, and I received a system message saying this s/w has gone.

HP Linux Printing and Imaging - GUI utilities
This package contains utilities with graphical user interface (GUI) for HPLIP: HP Toolbox, HP Fax, ...
Installed version: 2.8.2-Oubuntu8 (hardy)

Then strange thing: most of the printing functions seem to work correctly on the few applications I have tested; i.e. Firefox, Evolution and OpenOffice, but I have also random behaviors of my printer.
The fax et scanner were not tested yet.

I cannot include the system bug report as I don't know where to find it on my laptop.
