Bug Description

Binary package hint: kaffeine

$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 8.04
Release: 8.04

$ apt-cache policy kaffeine
kaffeine:
  Installé : 0.8.6-0ubuntu8.1
  Candidat : 0.8.6-0ubuntu8.1
 Table de version :
 *** 0.8.6-0ubuntu8.1 0

$ dpkg -l | grep -E "^ii.*xine" | awk '{print $2}'
[...]
libxine1
libxine1-bin
libxine1-console
libxine1-ffmpeg
libxine1-misc-plugins
libxine1-x
[...]

During video playback with kaffeine (and kmplayer too), if I select another application window
in order to work on it while playing the video, the video playback is displayed *over* the current
toplevel window even if kaffeine (or kmplayer) window is below. See screenshot in attachment.

I don't know how this can happen. It happen with or without w32codecs, with or without gstreamer
codecs. I think this is due to xine, but as I don't know which xine package handles video I put all
the information I can get here.

X11 is running using the "nv" driver (the "nvidia" driver makes the system freeze at boot).

Video codecs installed/tested:
$ dpkg -l | grep -E "^ii.*codec|gstreamer|ffmpeg" | awk '{print $2}'
ffmpeg
gstreamer0.10-plugins-base
libavcodec1d
libavformat1d
libavutil1d
libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-0
libgstreamer0.10-0
libpostproc1d
libswscale1d
libwavpack1
libxine1-ffmpeg
libxvidcore4

Using the nvidia Xorg driver, the video playback is fine (not overlapping other windows). But this driver is highly unstable (sometimes crashes at boot time, some popup windows stay drawed on the screen after they are closed, fullscreen dims the screen).

This bug is very old... Do you use now a newer Ubuntu version? Have you still this problem? Thank you for telling us!

    Indeed, I use a newer version -- without that bug (at least that's
    what it seems for now).

    You can close the bug :)
