Bug Description

Binary package hint: icedtea-gcjwebplugin

I'm using Hardy 64 bit with the Iced Tea plugin (version 1.0-0ubuntu5) in Firefox 3. When I use an applet that plays sounds, the first couple sounds will play fine, but then sound stops working and CPU usage jumps to 100%. Here is an example of an applet that causes the problem:

http://www.realapplets.com/tutorial/SoundExample.html

After the applet loads, it plays a sound. Then clicking anywhere in the applet should cause a sound to be played. This works the first time, but upon clicking a second time no sound is heard and CPU usage jumps to 100%.

I've seen similar behaviour in other applets as well.

please recheck with 6b09dfsg-1ubuntu2, as found in intrepid

How do I do that? According to http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid/openjdk-6-jre Intrepid still has the same version as Hardy.

- install intrepid in a chroot
- or use the package for hardy from the openjdk PPA.

I just tried version 6b10-0ubnutu1~ppa3 from the openjdk PPA. It is definitely an improvement, but I can still reproduce the bug by going to the applet listed in my original submission and clicking two or three times in rapid succession. But clicking more slowly, the applet seems to play sounds with no problem, even 20 or 30 times in a row.

I'm still seeing the same behaviour after upgrading to 6b10-0ubuntu1~ppa7.

 - please recheck first with 6b12~pre2-0ubuntu2 in intrepid,
 - then, if it is not fixed, with 6b12~pre2-1ubuntu1~ppaX from the openjdk PPA

(the latter one works for me)
