Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Gnome Power Manager doesn't show brightness control anymore in Hardy. It works fine in Gutsy while it had no effect on my Sony TX2 laptop with the default kernel but this could be fixed easily through compiling the 2.6.24 on my own.
The brightness bar is completely gone. Only the dim on idle button is still there which works fine. The biggest problem of this is that my laptop always starts with lowest brightness and it has to be changed with the brightness keys every time. I guess this bug is connected to every one complaining about backlight being so dark on start since Hardy.

output of ls /sys/class/backlight/sony/
actual_brightness brightness power uevent
bl_power max_brightness subsystem
