I have *never* select under the menu "Ansicht" the "Vollbild" (Fullscreen) - option.

No, your tip has not helped. It started as usual without window frames.

I can confirm this behavior. Is there any workaround?

It can help:

F11 to fullscreen.
F11 again to normal screen.
Use UnMaximize button.
Resize the window to a smaller size.
Close Firefox.
Restart Firefox.

It should work now.

For me it happens every time firefox starts. If I hit F11 two times, the window decoration reappears.

Try to deactivate the "Workaround" plugin in Compiz Fusion: http://wiki.compiz-fusion.org/Plugins/Workarounds

rrichter - is this still a problem for you. gflash - your issue sounds like the window border might be starting under the panel. Could you post a screenshot of your problem too?

This has consistently started happening to me (every time) on Ubuntu 8.10 since I upgraded to Firefox 3.07. Hitting F11 twice works, and disabling the Workaround plugin fixes the problem also. However, with the workaround plugin disabled, the borders look extremely skewed for a second as Firefox is loading.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.
