Starting X with nvidia driver results in system lockup

Bug Description

Since I upgraded to Breezy each try to start X with the nvidia driver results in
a system lockup.

Understand that because of the proprietary nature of this driver, there is
nothing we can do about this other than to help you get in contact with nVidia.
 The document /usr/share/doc/nvidia-glx/README.txt.gz explains how to do this.

As it was working perfectly with Hoary I was thinking that something had changed
in Ubuntu that made it breake. In any case it, if more users than I have this
problem it has to be resolved before the relase.

Things have changed in Ubuntu, including this driver. However, we are not
allowed access to its source code by nVidia, and so we cannot help you to
diagnose the problem. Only nVidia can.

I'm almost positively sure that my system had a hard lock. Based on the fact
that even sshd stoped responding after trying to start X.

Other people seems to have more trouble with the driver not picking correct
timings via EDID.
The combo DVI + high resoultion DFP + nvidia driver seems to trigger the bug.
