Bug Description

Symptom: I'm using Firefox 3.0b5. When I scroll a little bit by putting my finger on the side of the touchpad and sliding it up or down, the window will sometimes continue to scroll up or down, then will scroll in the opposite direction for a time before finally stopping. I am so far unable to make it stop except by waiting for a few seconds.

I notice this scrolling bug most when I use Firefox because I use FF for a large part of my day, but I also notice it with some other applications, like OpenOffice.

I'm using a stock Ubuntu Hardy amd64, up-to-date as of noon -0400 on Thu, 08 May 2008.

$ uname -a
Linux hani 2.6.24-16-generic #1 SMP Thu Apr 10 12:47:45 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux

$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 8.04
Release: 8.04

Gnome 2.22.1, built 30 Apr 2008

Please try this in Ubuntu 8.10. We've changed a fair bit.
