Browser can't visit external websites though set a valid proxy

Although set system proxy to a valid server,I can't visit external websites,and after I type a valid web address and wait for several minutes,I can see the page which shows "Network timeout",the same issue occurs on firefox on Unbuntu,we can see more details on https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/23369.It means midbrowser can not read system proxy by default now.

Asac has uploaded a new version of xulrunner which should fix this issue. Can you give me the version number on the xulrunner? Enter the command dpkg -l xulrunner will give you the version.

Has the fix been committed in this version?

Looks like you have the old version which does not have the gconf patch.

Please upgrade version xulrunner-1.9~b5+nobinonly~0ubuntu4~8.04.0mt1. This should allow the browser to use the system proxy setting.

Please upgrade to ther latest version of xulrunner-1.9 (1.9~b5+nobinonly~0ubuntu4~8.04.0mt1). This has the gconf patch which should allow the browser to use the system proxy setting.

Carl,I do as what you told and see the xulrunner version is 1.9~b5+nobinonly~0ubuntu4~8.04.0mt1,but browser still can not read system proxy.It seems that solution didn't work.

Please do an apt-get update and apt-get upgrade again. The xulrunner-1.9 version should read:

xulrunner-1.9 1.9~b5+nobinonly-oubuntu4~8.04.0mt1.ume804

Sure,on 2008/05/16 image,the xulrunner version is the one as you said,and now it works,so I mark it as fix released.

This issue remains on beta5 image.The xulrunner version is 1.9~b5+nobinonly-0ubuntu4~8.04.0mt1.

Carl,I note the a dissimilarity for the version of xulrunner-1.9 between our image and UME beta5:
our image(2008/05/16):xulrunner-1.9 1.9~b5+nobinonly-0ubuntu4~8.04.0mt1.ume804
                  UME beta5:xulrunner-1.9 1.9~b5+nobinonly-0ubuntu4~8.04.0mt1
But the latter didn't work,so which version is newer?

The version xulrunner-1.9~b5+nobinonly~0ubuntu4~8.04.0mt1.ume804 is the latest. The one you have in beta5 doesn't have the patch. Please update to the newer one and give it a try.
