Bug Description

Binary package hint: yum

The latest version of yum can be found here, however, installing it doesn't work any better than installing the one in the repositories, the one in the repositories requests a model that exists, yet insists it is not installed, and the latest version asks for module yum, and I can't figure out how to compile module yum.

Hi,

I'm the maintainer of yum in Debian.

We are using this version of yum in production to bootstrap CentOS from a Lenny dom0. It does work pretty well.

When you say "installing it doesn't work any better than installing the one in the repositories", I don't understand what repository you are talking about here. Please be more specific, I don't understand either when you say "the one in the repositories requests a model that exists, yet insists it is not installed, and the latest version asks for module yum".

After some discussion with some users, it appears that version 3.2.21 is broken, but 3.2.23 is working. This is not a surprise at all.

I believe this bug entry can be closed, and maybe 3.2.23 should be migrated to Jaunty to make it work.

Closing since the development version and the last stable release have a fixed version according to Thomas

       yum | 3.2.21-1 | jaunty/universe | source, all
       yum | 3.2.23-1 | karmic/universe | source, all
       yum | 3.2.23-1 | lucid/universe | source, all
