Bug Description

OS Version: Ubuntu Hardy 8.04
Hardware: ThinkPad x41 Tablet

Problem:
I have mapped the switch to left workspace and switch to right workspace actions to two of the keys on the keyboard (for those familiar with the IBM/Lenovo layout, the keys are the window back and window forward keys above the left and right arrows that I believe are intended for browsers).

Typically, when switching workspaces, a rectangular graphic with two internal rectangles representing the workspaces appears in the center of the screen and then fades after the switch. In my case, the graphic appears correctly, including the internal arrow indicating the direction of the switch, but after the arrow fades the graphic remains on my screen until I log out or restart X. Notably, when I drag a window from one workspace to another (i.e. dragging it toward the right side of the screen), the graphic behaves properly. If I drag a window to the other workspace once the graphic is stuck on screen, the graphic remains on screen.

My apologies if some of this is vague, this is my first bug submission. I'll gladly fill in any gaps. Thanks!

Are you running compiz-fusion? If so, temporarily disable it (in System-->Preferences-->Appearance -- Visual Effects Tab) and see if the problem persists.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Could you try to reproduce the same with Ubuntu 9.04? Thanks in advance.
