Bug Description

Binary package hint: k3b

I use Kubuntu 8.04 with 2.6.24-16-generic x64 kernel.

I have compiz installed. When I launch k3b, the computer totally freezes.

The CD/DVD-writer is attached via IDE cable.

Going by the information that you have provided I believe I have the same setup as you do, although I cannot reproduce this problem. A backtrace should shed some light on the issue.

I don't know how to produce a backtrace, as the computer totally freezes.
I only have the possibility to press the reset button and to reboot.

The problem is solved. A friend of mine suggested to drop the CD-ROM and make the writer master (IDE). I have done so and now, it works. This error was caused by a buggy IDE-controller.

No. It happened also in a new installed kubuntu 7.10
