Bug Description

The Debian package builds without modifications on Hardy and Intrepid. See my PPA for test packages. Excellent for finding out if it's firefox, trackerd or scrollkeeper that is trashing your system.

From http://packages.debian.org/sid/iotop:

simple top-like I/O monitor

iotop does for I/O usage what top(1) does for CPU usage. It watches I/O usage information output by the Linux kernel (requires 2.6.20 or later) and displays a table of current I/O usage by processes on the system. Handy for answering the question "Why is my disk churning so much?".

No need to file a sync request for a package that is going to enter in the automatic Debian Syncs.

ACKed anyway.

Yes, this tool is holy - really.

And: It isn't in my hardy repos!? I had to load the deb manually from the debian repositories. So is there something wrong or is it my mistake?

Michael, no it isn't in Hardy. In fact it got into Debian only after Hardy was released. But you can install the Intrepid package just fine: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/intrepid/i386/iotop/0.1-2
