[Hardy] vlc and gvfs do not work together

Bug Description

Binary package hint: vlc

In hardy, gvfs is now the standard.
Unfortunately, this breaks playing files on mounted drives with vlc from Nautilus.
Background: the new locators, like ftp:// and smb://, are interpreted by vlc as a protocol, rather than as a file handle.
vlc tries to find a protocol, unaware that gvfs would provide that for vlc if vlc tried just to open it as a file.

This is an unfortunate side-effect of making gvfs required for hardy.

fixed in intrepid, in vlc 0.9.3

VLC 0.9.3 completely changes it's dependencies so I think a backport to hardy wouldn't be possible.

If someone wants to give it a shot, try to backport its dependencies and
stage a package in your private PPA. we can then copy it in the
motumedia ppa for hardy.
