Are you using nvidia? If so, does running `nvidia-xconfig --add-argb-glx-visuals` then restarting X (ctrl-alt-backspace) help?

Yes, I have a Nvidia 6500 card with 256mb. Installed the latest nvidia driver through kubuntu. Ran the command, and it does not improve the situation.

Not only is the button missing, but windows are frozen and can not be moved or scaled when I use the Desktop effects manager with Extra or Custom effects.

Does the problem still occur with Intrepid? If so, could you please take a screenshot showing what exactly is "broken"? Thanks in advance.

Hallo Hew, I ran Ubuntu interprid and Compiz worked like a charm.

I suggest this bug is closed and I will retest in kubuntu 9.10.

Let me know if I can assist with testing.

Hein
