Changing to static IP stops system loading

I have installed Hardy from the live CD several times, and it works fine until I change to a static IP.
After I do that, when I restart, the system hangs after login. [Brown screen of no life]

If I reboot, the system hangs when trying to boot from the live CD... but it works from a cold boot[power cycle]. The installed syatem will not load however until reinstalled.

I have repeated this several times. A couple of times I got a "Didn't receive reply" error in a window at the top LH.

I suspect a DBus problem with the Gnome desktop perhaps involved.

To reproduce:
1Install from live CD
Change wired connection from roaming to fixed IP [192.168.0.11]
reboot......hangs after login
Insert Live CD - reset switch - hangs as above
Power off|power on - boots from live CD
shut down, restart -

I'm no network guru - but could this have anything to do with IPv4LL? If I change the IP address that hasn't brought eth0 down and up again has it?

Can no longer reproduce the problem. Maybe it has been fixed by one of the various upgrades?

I'm glad you are no longer experiencing thins problem. I will close this bug for now. However, feel free to reopen it if necessary by changing the status to New.
