Bug Description

Right clicking on a file, choosing "open with", and then choosing a KDE app does not work. The application is not started, and the file is not opened. Basically, nothing happens. This is also the case if one chooses "Open with Other Application" and then chooses a KDE program.

(I am assuming that this is a problem with KDE programs, since KWrite and Kate are affected, while OpenOffice Writer, gedit, Firefox and Archive Manager are not. I can confirm this bug on two different computers.)

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? I tested in Intrepid and it's working there. Thanks in advance.

the issue is a known one and due to kde applications using .desktop which doesn't respect the standards

Andreas: yes, it is still an issue in my current (fully updated) Hardy. I don't have an Intrepid alpha running, so I don't know if Intrepid fixes it; but it would be nice to see a fix for Hardy anyway.
