Bug Description

Binary package hint: pidgin

The sound (Buddy Login, Message Sent, Buddy Pounce, etc.) doesn't work on Pidgin 2.4.1 on Ubuntu 8.04. I upgraded from version 7.10. They worked fine in that version. When you set the sounds up they work when you test them. They just don't work when the actual event occurs.

I checked and it was on Automatic. I changed it to NO SOUNDS and back
to Automatic. When I looked at the Tools Menu I saw mute sounds was
checked. I unchecked it and now the sounds work.

The other thing that occured to me is that, today, when I logged in Update Manager installed 33 updates. This might have had something to do with it working now. The other day I checked and Mute Sounds wasn't checked.

After a re-configuration of my sound card things are working fine. Thank you.

So, it sounds like this bug has been fixed somewhere else somehow, is that right?
Or is it still an issue for someone, or can this bug report be closed?
