Bug Description

Binary package hint: amarok

Very recently, at one of the last updates before Hardy was finalized, Amarok (or Nautilus?) suddenly started doing weird things to my ipod naon (3rd generation, the "fatty nano").

After adding a few podcasts and disconnecting properly (although the amarok app was upgraded between the time I connected and the time I disconnected - if that matters), the ipod suddenly showed no music and no podcasts (as if the problem fixed in http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/Media_Device:IPod#iPod_nano_3G_.28fatty.29.2C_iPod_Classic_and_iPod_Touch had reappeared)

I tried re-connecting the ipod, Amarok found the music on there, I later disconnected/reconnected, was told there ws no ItunesDB - would I like to initialise my ipod? The Stale and Orphaned function found all my music but was unable to write the itunesDB to the device.

I suspect there is some permissions trouble; as if the ipod has been mounted read-only or something. E.g. if I now open Nautilus and try to add a file to the COntacts or Notes folders, I get an error too... See below screenshots for more information

nautilus is a file browser and do nothing specific on ipods, that's not a nautilus bug

This bug went away after connecting the ipod to a mac with iTunes and re-installing the firmware. Presumably an ipod bug (possibly from disconnecting without ejecting) and not an amarok bug. Happy to close this one.
