Firebug does not appear in Firefox 2 on Hardy

Bug Description

Binary package hint: firebug

Ubuntu 8.04
Firebug 1.2~b21+svn573-0ubuntu1
Firefox 2.0.0.14+2nobinonly-0ubuntu1

Even though the Firebug extension appears to be installed and enabled according to the Tools/Add ons dialog, no Firebug menu item appears in the Tools menu, and no small firebug icon appears in the lower right hand status area.

If firebug 1.2 is incompatible with FF 2, it would be good to have an older firebug available in the universe repos.

Workaround: I removed extensions.rdf in my profile folder. When I restarted FF2, Firebug became available.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

it looks like the latest version does not suffer from this bug at all. I'm not sure what version is in Hardy at the moment bug you were running a fairly old version and unstable version. Please update bug with version you are now using of firefox and of firebug
