Broken DSDT usually throws up more errors.
acer_acpi package enables buttons, otherwise dosn't help.

This also happens to me on the same hardware using 2.6.24-19 kernel. Sometimes it does wake up fine, I couldn't determine yet why/when it wakes up normally.

The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux-image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and test.

--or--

2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4. Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced. You should then be able to test via a LiveCD.

Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the 2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'. Also, please specifically note if the issue does or does not appear in the 2.6.26 kernel. Thanks again, we really appreicate your help and feedback.

I would like to report that this is fine with the latest hardy kernel. Sorry laptop is enroute to acer service center, I don't have further details of the version, etc. However we have been suspending the laptop for the last week and it fine with the latest stock hardy kernel.

How about the others, is suspending now working stable now?

Thanks for the update. I'm tentatively marking this "Fix Released" per the last set of comments. Simon, since you are the original bug repoter, if this is not fixed for you please reopen this report by setting the status back to "New". Thanks.

Changed in linux:
status: New → Fix Released

Resume works fine under Intrepid Alpha with 2.6.27-4-generic on my Acer 5620Z (although I think it should be an option whether the wireless network is switched off - it's hell to get it going again!).

Issue resolved by updating to the latest BIOS 1.16. Tested Ok on Acer aspire 4315 using Ubuntu 11.04 and PClinuxOS KDE 2011 09.

Notes:
I'm able to reproduce the problem with the old BIOS 1.08.
Only Ubuntu 8.10 worked Ok for me using the old BIOS, see http://www.hbclinux.net.nz/acer4315-810.html
