Bug Description

I have tried to upgrade two machines running 6.06.1LTS to 8.04LTS.

1) IBM Thinkpad R40e - Pentium 4 2.4GHz

2) Elderly Viglen desktop - Pentium III 450MHz

using the alternate install CD in both cases. The upgrades went fine, but on both machines neither keyboard nor mouse worked at the login screen. After ctrl-alt-F1 the keyboard worked fine and xorg.conf seemed perfectly straightforward with standard keyboard input.

In both cases a full install of 8.04 solved the problem.

8.04 is the current LTS release.
Workaround:

Backup any important data/documents etc. Install Hardy fresh.
