Bug Description

Hi - First let me explain the upgrade path for this installation.

Clean install of Gutsy.
Install Myth 0.20
Upgrade to Myth 0.21 (via gutsy-backports)
Upgrade to Hardy.

OK after a few teething problems got my system working well again. One of the few remaining issues is :-

From within Myth Control Centre (MCC) - when I click optimize tables button, instead of opening a terminal and running the script as used to happen, now a terminal opens and shuts almost immediately!

After some digging, it seems that the script has moved from where it should be :-

/usr/share/doc/mythtv-docs-0.21/contrib/optimize_mythdb.pl

to

/usr/share/doc/mythtv-backend/contrib/optimize_mythdb.pl

It appears then that the "button" in MCC points to the wrong place and does "nothing".

I have been able to track down this issue. It doesn't happen because optimize_mythdb.pl moved. The problem is caused by incorrect usage of 'su'. I'll bzr push a patch later.

Please find the debdiff which fixes this issue in bug #241402.

TEST CASE: click "Optimize tables" button in the "Advanced Management" tab. You should see a terminal window and output from optimize_mythdb.pl. Of course, you need to have mysql-server and mythtv-backend installed and running.

Hi - sorry for being so slow getting back to you on this.

I am happy to test the proposed fix, but I'm not exactly sure what to do with a debdiff file!

I am trying to follow the guide shown here:-
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuPackagingGuide/BuildFromDebdiff

Trouble is, I do not know which source package I need to download to apply the debdiff to! (step 4!)

I've tried various package names, but keep getting something like
E: error package unknown............

????
