Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

After I upgraded to Hardy from Gutsy, my Firefox no longer opens. When I open it from a terminal, it dies with the following error:

/usr/lib/firefox-3.0b5/firefox: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/xulrunner-1.9b5/libxul.so: undefined symbol: cairo_surface_get_reference_count

I'm using the AMD 64 version of Ubuntu

I had to reinstall firefox2, which seems to work ok.

We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest firefox version? Thanks in advance.

This was a long time ago, I think the transition from Gutsy -> Hardy via the update manager seems to have screwed something up. If I recall correctly, a fresh install of Gutsy did not have this problem. I'm on 8.10 now anyway, so I'm afraid I can't give you any more information about this bug.

Don't worry. The support for version older than Gutsy has already ran out, so noone will ever use them anymore ;)
