Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

Upgrade installation of Hardy 8.04 running KDE3. 95% of the time the window decorator of the inactive windows are not rendered. 5% of the time they are present and are correct. Attached png shows incorrect behavior. Clicking on inactive window redraws active decorator and you can even click in the vicinity of where the close or minimize buttons should be and the action will work.

Emerald is not installed... Using Nvidia card with non-free driver in a dual monitor setup. Just basic compiz fusion and KDE. The same issue also occurs in the KDE4 remix (almost identical behavior). I had compiz fusion installed and working prior to Hardy but I was using emerald as the kde decorator "wasn't happy" at the time.

Following are all running processes under compiz (ps -ef | grep compiz)

kwrapper ksmserver --windowmanager /usr/bin/compiz
ksmserver [kdeinit] --windowmanager /usr/bin/compiz
/bin/sh /usr/bin/compiz
/usr/bin/compiz.real --ignore-desktop-hints --replace --loose-binding core ccp
/bin/sh -c /usr/bin/compiz-decorator
/bin/sh /usr/bin/compiz-decorator
/bin/sh /usr/bin/compiz --sm-client-id 10d6d8d4e3000120933852400000070130028
/usr/bin/compiz.real --ignore-desktop-hints --replace --loose-binding --sm-client-id 10d6d8d4e3000120933852400000070130028 core ccp

Same issue here. Kubuntu hardy, GeForce 8400M GS.

Workaround: run ccsm, go to Window Decorator, set decorator to this:
kde-window-decorator --replace --no-opacity-shade --no-active-opacity-shade

I can verify the workaround look like it works.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Could you try to reproduce the same with Ubuntu 8.10 or 9.04? Thanks in advance.
