Bug Description

After I've upgraded to Ubuntu Hardy 8.04, screen happens to blink from time to time when running applications using opengl to support 3D features.
I'm working on a amd64 platform with 1GB RAM and a ati radeon 9600 video card.
When I turn off the visual effects enhacement, things get back to normal (i.e. it stops blinking).
I have actually only noticed the issue when running games, because that's the only app I think I have here that requires opengl 3D features (but fglxgears app also suffer from this problem).

I'm using the third party driver from ati, used by default when enabling 3D features on Ubuntu.

What can I do?
