Bug Description

When I attempt to set up the Exchange plugin for Evolution 2.4.0 I get to the part where it asks for my exchange username, and I enter it, but then it will not allow me to click the next button. This causes the plugin to not work.

Try adding it as a seperate account type like novell, then just go into accounts and change the account type in there back to exchange and it should be ok (field will appear that need filling out)

Changed in evolution:
assignee: nobody → gnome

I have actually tried that before. I get this message when I do that;

" Error while Scanning Folders in "Exchange server asdf"
"Could not connect to Evolution Exchange backend process: No such file or directory"

I assume this is because when I was employing the "work around" I entered asdf in the field to get past the prompts so I could go back and change the account type to exchange; however, there is no option that I can find to change the Exchange server once the account is created. : (

I have also used the "ximian-connector-setup-2.4" command via a command line. This lets me access my email, but I am not able to do much else, like send email.

And when I run a "send/receive" It takes a little bit but then I get this message: "The Application "evolution-exchange-storage" has quit unexpectedly"

Hmmmm I think thats about all I can think to tell you right now. Except when the above error does occur, I have to reboot the machine to get evolution to even connect for reading email again. : (

I am experiencing the exact same problem with the Exchange plug-in for Evolution 2.4.0 running on Ubuntu 5.10 (Breezy Badger). I can successfulyy access the Exchange server using IMAP, but the setup is broken for Exchange.

Same problem here with Breezy. I first noticed it when moving to Evolution 2.4.

I even tried wiping out my .evolution/ and .gconf/apps/evoltuion dirs and set up from scratch, but no luck. In the initial wizard, on selecting Exchange as the server type it only shows a username box, with no place to specify server, and the Forward button is disabled.

iirc, last time I successfully setup an exchange account I had to specify my exchange web access url in a box. That box isn't displayed anywhere.

could you try with this version:

evolution (2.4.1-0ubuntu2) breezy; urgency=low

  * debian/control:
    - Build-Depends on the libexchange-storage1.2-dev package
      (Ubuntu: #13987, #15434).

and note if you still have this issue?

I cant find that package anywhere. Where can I download that from? I actually have evolution (2.4.1-0ubuntu4) Is that similar enough for what you want?

Otherwise I have no problem installing the version you want, I just cant find it.

Unfortunately it doesnt seem to be working. I did do a complete uninstall of evolution, and then reinstalled. It still gives me this error:

"Error while Scanning folders in 'Exchange server Exchange2k'
Could not connect to Evolution Exchange backend process: No such file or directory"

Then, after clicking ok it tells me this:

"Error while Reconnecting to Exchange server EXCHANGE2K.
Could not connect to Evolution Exchange backend process: No such file or directory"

Right now I cant get anything to open at all. However, I can now add the account without getting weird errors. So the account adds just fine, it just doesnt work after I add it. : (

The exchange plugin also seems to cause Evo to crash... : (

I just figured I'd try running evo from a command line and see what it says, I get a lot of this error in there:
(evolution:10688): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_key_file_add_group: assertion `g_key_file_lookup_group_node (key_file, group_name) == NULL' failed

and these lines are what it gives me whenever those errors I posted above in this post pop up

(evolution:10688): evolution-mail-WARNING **: Could not setup local store/folder: No provider available for protocol `mbox'

(evolution:10688): camel-CRITICAL **: camel_object_is: assertion `o != NULL' failed

(evolution:10688): camel-CRITICAL **: camel_object_ref: assertion `CAMEL_IS_OBJECT(o)' failed

Anwyays, I hope that is helpful.

Thanks for all your help.

Thanks for trying it. I've upload evolution-exchange 2.4.1 which is supposed to fix some issues too, could you give it a try and let we know if that fixes the issue?

About the crash, could you get a backtrace? The bug-buddy dialog to send the bug upstream has it.

Wow, Its all working. I noticed an evolution-exchange update went through this morning. Thanks so much!

How do I get a backtrace? I assume I check something after it crashes right? Let me know how, and I'll post the backtrace next time it crashes.

Of course, the crashing was most likely related to the exchange stuff not working, we'll see.

Again, thanks so much!

There is actually one thing that I failed to mention, Yesterday, when I removed Evoution, after I reinstalled it the only option for email servers was exchange... I dont know if that is an issue with the exchange plugin or something else. Any ideas?

The crash is a different bug of the evolution-exchange one, right? Could you open a different malone ticket for it?
