hotplug hang on ubuntu with speedtouch usb modem

I have to unplug the modem on boot, otherwise hotplug hangs.
same whether i use the 2.6.8 or the 2.6.12 kernel.

I have blacklisted the speedtch module; maybe if i remove it from the blacklist it will
work.....
i'll keep you informed.

Can you confirm? hotplug hangs on boot if your speedtouch modem is plugged in
_AND_ you have blacklisted it?

Or did you blacklist it to try and solve the problem?

I have checked /etc/hotplug/blacklist and the speedtch module is present: but the boot process hangs all
the same.
I have changed modems and will try to reproduce on a work PC on monday by brining the speedtouch usb to
work.
I setup the modem using the speedtouchconf script on sourceforge... i will test both with and without on a
fresh ubuntu, see whether it hangs.

Could you boot your system in recovery mode with the modem plugged in and report
what the last messages you see are.

I have changed modems since last week. i now have a PPPOE one. I removed all the
scripts etc to not mess my system up more.

I tried plugging the speedtouch back in once i'd done this, and it no longer
happens....

Not good bug tracking practise, i know, so i apologise.
It didn't however, hang on hotplug any more, so i can only assume it was the
script that borked things up a bit.

Ok, no problem; I don't have a problem with a friend's who lent it me for
debugging, so will close this.
