Bug Description
I have used the keyboard layout options to set my CapsLock key to be an extra CTRL key. In Gutsy and before this worked fine. In Hardy it's not working in two ways:
First, if my CapsLock was ON when I converted the CapsLock to a CTRL key, it stays on and I cannot turn it off again unless I set the CapsLock back to the default, turn off CapsLock, then set it back to CTRL. this _might_ have happened in Gutsy; I can't say for sure.
Second, and more annoying/important: even though I've converted my CapsLock key to a CTRL key, the CapsLock LED is still turning itself on and off when I press the CapsLock key. This is new in Hardy; it didn't used to do this in Gutsy. This seems like a small thing but it's actually pretty annoying since that blinking LED really distracts me. I've had to put some electrical tape over the LED.
I'm using Ubuntu 8.04 (all updates):
ii xserver-
I also have this problem upgrading from 7.10 to 8.04.
I swapped the Capslock and LeftCtrl keys through gnome-keyboard- properties. This works fine, except that the Capslock LED light toggles every time I hit the physical Capslock key. I also confirm that this is indeed distracting :-).
