Bug Description

We currently have full support for ACPI 1.0 and some support for ACPI 2.0.

We should get full support for ACPI 3.0 and also try to get full support for ACPI 4.0a.

ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) is an open industry standard that defines common interfaces for hardware recognition, motherboard and device configuration and power management.

It says we do already have ACPI 3 support.

include/acpi/acconfig.h:
/* Version of ACPI supported */
#define ACPI_CA_SUPPORT_LEVEL 3

None of these packages that you've assigned this bug to care about ACPI support level. This is all handled in the kernel.

And given that the wiki page you link to says we already support ACPI 3.0, I'm not sure what you're asking for.

Hi Fred,

Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If the issue remains, please run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 221690

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

It only support ACPI 3, it needs to support ACPI 4.
