laptop does not hibernate on low battery

Bug Description

The Laptop (Dell XPS m1330) does not hibernate on critical battery level, it just powers off which means data gets lost.

It was this behavior with Ubuntu 7.10 and still with 8.04.

Same problem here, on a MacBookPro, I get a message like "the Computer is going to hibernate shortly, battery critically low". But instead of doing that, nothing happends for another two or three minutes and then the screen gets black... Recovering journal on next boot.

Same problem on a Fujjitsu Siemens Amilo 1520 in Ubutu 7.1 8.04 and 8.10 :-(

Guess this bug is duplicate but I have resolved this issue
by changing configuration values of gnome-power-manager via gconf-editor
