Bug Description

Environment
--
Description: Ubuntu 8.04
Release: 8.04

Repro Steps
--
I attempted to install libaqbanking20-dev after libaqofxconnect4 had already been installed.

Expected Result
--
dpkg installation of a package via 'apt-get' should not fail because of an already-installed package. 'apt-get' should find a conflict or possibly there shouldn't be a conflict between the packages.

Actual Result
--
It stated that some file in libaqbanking20-dev already existed from libaqofxconnect4 and it could not overwrite it. The dpkg installation failed

Where did you get the package libaqbanking-ofx0 from? And which version did it have? The only idea that comes to my mind is an artefact of a very outdated AqBanking installation.

I would certainly guess that I was attempting to build GnuCash with "Direct Connect" OFX support with the instructions available at http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Debian . Specifically, http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Debian#Configuring_2 gives instructions to add some package information regarding 'libaqbanking-ofx0' to the source package for 'libaqbanking''s `debian/rules'

While we cannot support packages built from other sources than in our archive, I think it should be managable to include these Replaces/Conflicts lines in our packages.

Hi,

The package libaqofxconnect4 within Debian will not get a "Conflicts:
libaqbanking-ofx0". Hence I added a "Conflicts: libaqofxconnect4" to the
according control file section mentioned in the [1]wiki page. So users
following those instructions will not run into the same problem again.

By the way: Users will have a Gnucash linked against the most current
AqBanking [2]soon. So the need for building packages from other sources
will vanish.

okay. I'm marking this bug as wontfix then, based on michas comments (who is one of the upstreams of the package)
