Incorrect language in 'typeface' menu

I am set up for English UK - The typeface shown in font menu is incorrect.

example: 'cursiva' instead of 'italic'

I am using an existing document (now completely screwed), copy attached. This appeared to start following update on Monday/Tuesday 21/22 April 2008. Other bad effects noted are:

Numbering is now illogical and fails to respond as expected. Table of Contents generation fails.

Using

The font problem is a long outstanding problem and is a bug in fontconfig, this is a duplicate bug as well so marking it as a duplicate of the existing fontconfig bug.
