Bug Description

Binary package hint: mousepad

The attached file is displayed incorrectly. (mousepad 0.2.13)

Open it with a different text editor (nano for example) and it is displayed correctly. (look right behind "align="absmiddle">" to notice the difference).

It's a missing comma and space, right?

As far as I can see there is no comma missing, but a part of the string is displayed reverse. Now, I don't speak Arabic, this is from a bug report which was sent to me, but the point is that it should be: <img tag>arabic ...', 0, 1, 666, 6, 0, etc.
Instead it is like <img tag>0, 6, 666, 1, 0, ...cibara'
And the numbers are definitley displayed at the wrong place. I'm not sure if the arabic should be displayed reverse, as it seems to be what mousepad tries.

See the attached image for clarification.

This is what it looks like for me, the upper one being Gedit and the lower one Mousepad on 7.10.

I should have added that I'm using 8.04.

Interestingly, it looks like the same in Gedit and Mousepad on my computer.
But the Nano output is the 'correct' one. I read the file using python and it was displayed exactly like the Nano output. Plus it is imported correctly to the database. The Gedit/Mousepad examples would be invalid SQL data.

btw: I'm on holidays for 5 days now so I won't be able to reply in the meantime.

If it displays the same in both gedit and mousepad then it isn't a bug in mousepad but instead I'd guess gtk.

Please see the strange.jpg attachement of my former post: http://launchpadlibrarian.net/13834941/strange.jpg

The first part of the image shows the console output (cat test.txt) of the test.txt (file attached to first post), the second part shows how mousepad displays the file. The parts that differs are marked by the black line. Mousepad shows the marked part reversed.

Although I don't speak arabic (or persian or whatever this language is :) ), I consider it wrong, because the mousepad output differs from the console output (mousepad does not show what is actually saved in this file).

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Could you try to reproduce the same with Ubuntu 8.10 or 9.04? Thanks in advance.
