I also can't reproduce this bug on Ubuntu Hardy. It appears that it may be a problem with the version of java you are using.

A full reinstall of all the openoffice packages as well as a rm -rf .openoffice.org2 seems to have cleared up the problem. I can no longer reproduce it myself.

My OpenOffice 2.4 in Hardy crashes instantly (application on screen goes gray) when I try to save or save as. I can't even type in a save name or select type of save i.e. openoffice or MSword. This does same no matter what OpenOffice document I use be it the word processor or presentation. I then have to "force quit". Any ideas? Oh yes, I am new to Ubuntu so it's ok to treat me as "don't have a clue".
