Binary package hint: no sound with kernel 2.6.25

Hello there!

I'm using Ubuntu 8.04 LTS with kernel 2.6.25. And i've got no sound. I have tried everything, but no luck.
lspci shows my card, but Ubuntu itself doesn't recognize it.

Anyway:

"No volume control GStreamer plugins and/or devices found." but i've got gstreamer installed, the problem can't be in this. Also all alsa drivers and utils are installed.
When i try to configure alsa, it says: " No supported PnP or PCI card found."

lspci gives: "00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 01)
"
and sound preferences gives: "audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink profile=chat: Could not open audio device for playback."

So, anything won't help.

Problem solved.

Just had to install PulseAudio and configure it.

Actually, still no sound.

After installing pulseaudio i can edit sound volume, but no sound itself.
But it is something. Before i had no sound mixers at all. And everything i tried to do just gave me an error.
