Installation failed in grub installation of openGEU on a mac mini dual boot with ubuntu

since there was only provision for sending one file as an attachment and I needed to send two as per the following snippet from the installer error handler I combined the two files into one and gave instructions for tweezing them apart in description - basically partman is first and syslog is second...

The system that I have is the mac mini with ubuntu on the internal drive (sda) - there is a lacie drive hooked up via firewire (500gb unit) partitioned into 4 equal spaces. The openGEU installation on the first of those partitions failed when it started to write the grub - this is when the installation was 94% finished. - here is the text that the report presented to me...

Thanks for your report. You're suffering from bug 149832, now fixed in Intrepid.
