Headphone jack doesn't work on Macbook 2,1 in Gutsy

Bug Description

I'm using a Macbook 2,1 with the Gutsy RC, 2.6.24-16-generic

When I plug my speakers into the headphone jack on the Macbook no sound comes through them. I've tried turning them all the way up but nothing comes out.

The speakers work fine in OS X, and the sound works OK in Ubuntu through the built in speakers, but it's pretty quiet.

EDIT: Actually, it seems opening gnome-volume-control, opening preferences and enabling Surround and then unmuting it fixes the problem with sound not coming through the headphone jack. It also fixes the problem with sound being quiet.

perhaps the same issue as LP #201957, https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/201957 ?

Ah yes, sorry about that, it does seem to be the same issue.

no problem, it happens all the time. Let's see if I can figure out how to technically "mark the bug as duplicate" now...
