I'm getting the English version of this same error message when I try to set proxy settings. I'm using the same package, and my locale is bg_BG.UTF-8

Tried to find a localisation package for firefox, but found none. When starting firefox with different locale I get:
andrew@rev2:~$ firefox

(firefox:8899): Gtk-WARNING **: Locale not supported by C library.
 Using the fallback 'C' locale.

did you install your locale from language-pack-gnome thats where the Firefox-3.0 locales are now, the locale you want if you ar using bg is language-pack-gnome-bg, i know from other bugs that ES and ENN are being fixed as they were overwritten by other versions.
Now im assuming that would fix your issue. Please let me know if it does.

Yes, language-pack-gnome-bg and language-pack-gnome-bg-base are installed and I found the firefox language add-on for Bulgarian in them. Dind't know it's there and somehow managed to not see it last night.

Unfortunately I didn't quite understand what you mean with "ES and ENN are being fixed as they were overwritten by other versions". Just in case I reinstalled the language-pack-gnome-bg-base package. Would have tried upgrading/downgrading the package, but synaptic showed no other versions available.

From your remark I understand that some language-pack data have been overwritten and now this is being fixed, and I should wait for update.
Please let me know if I misinterpreted your comment.

I no longer find Bulgarian language in Firefox (Tools>Add-ons>Languages). Working with en-GB instead. I assume this means it is fixed...

the new translations are not there, but in language-pack-bg-base
... and language-pack-bg ... install those and you will get a
localized firefox again.

Can you try this in Ubuntu 8.10 and tell us if the problem still occurs?
