rhythmbox no longer lets you move through songs

rhythmbox 0.9.0-0ubuntu5. The slide bar that represents the placeholder in the
song no longer updates as the song plays. manually moving it doesn't skip to
that place inthe song.

Thanks for your bug. Is that happening since an update? Does it work fine with
totem-gstreamer by example? Do you use gstreamer0.8-mad or gstreamer0.8-ffmpeg?
What does "rhythmbox -d" say on the issue? What kind of file do you read? mp3,
ogg? Does downgrading the package fixes your issue?

Using gstream0.8-mad. Reading mp3s. Will try gstreamer0.8-ffmpeg and/or
downgrading next. I'll install totem-gstremer to check that out.

gstreamer0.8-ffmpeg doesn't change the problem. can't get totem to run, so I
can't check that out (it gives me gtk errors).

Just downgraded only the rhythmbox package.
I don't have this problem with rhythmbox 0.8.8-7ubuntu5 (from hoary), I do have
it with 0.9.0-0ubuntu5 .

i thought all the gstreamer upgrades to brezzy that came out today might solve
this. nope. just thought i'd let you know.

ok see at Bug 18931
it is probably the same issue with the autodetect sink which
doesn't propperly tell the played bytes

I set it from autodetect to alsasink btw. esdsink in MediaProperties and
 the slider got working

But now it plays a bit hacky (no distotion with esdsink)

Explicity selecting ALSA or ESD as the sink in MediaProperties fixes this. I can
only reproduce the problem when using the autodetect sink.
