Bug Description

I am not so good in english, I am from Germany. This ist the text in german:

Hallo Leute,

Interner Fehler - failed to initialize HAL!

Thank you for your help.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Your bug report is more likely to get attention if it is made in English, since this is the language understood by the majority of Ubuntu developers. Additionally, please only mark a bug as "security" if it shows evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries or to directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

Well there does not seem to be anything obvious in your kernel log. Could you also post your /var/log/messages please.

I have installed ubuntu-8.04-alternate-i386.iso and no problems with the hal when I use it.

But my PC frozen in when I look TV or the PC is waiting (Pause - Power Management?).

See the Attachement File "syslog".

Hi,
this should be a duplicate of 212100 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24/+bug/212100) but it's marked as fixed.
Can you try to blacklist you're tv-tuner driver? From a terminal window, launch this 2 commands as root user:

echo cx88 >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist
echo cx2388x >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist

now reboot

my TV card runs good under ubuntu-8.04-alternate-i386.iso (linux-image-2.6.24-16-generic - 2.6.24-16.30).

Thank you.
