Bug Description
Running current Hardy Heron (April 20, 2008)
remote printers not shown in gnome-cups-manager
and "detect lan printers" is greyed out
(cannot be clicked)
This is true whether click to start gnome-cups-manager
via System-
or if I start g-c-m from a root terminal (having set
a password for root, setting DISPLAY, running xhost +
etc.)
Net is, even running g-c-m as root I cannot set the
"detect lan printers" and all of my printers are hooked to
servers. I would tag this as a show stopper for Hardy.

my print server is running gutsy
my client is running hardy
not sure which cups upgrade broke (gutsy or hardy)
but the old permissions problem crept back in w/ a cups update to one or the other
I fixed by (on both client and server ubuntu systems)
chown -R lp:lp cups*
from /var/cache
/var/spool
/var/lib
/etc
and restarting cupsys
on both printer server
and client
This bit ubuntu before.
Silly bug that should not have crept back in.
Particularly days before a release.
