Bug Description

Binary package hint: lshw

Ubuntu 8.04 with all the updates. Laptop.

The package "lshw" have a bug detecting the network devices. It use 100% CPU and never ends... it only have problems running it as super-user not has normal user...

This problem affect "hwtest-gtk" because it use lshw for detecting the network devices.

The problem probably only affect wireless devices.... in my desktop it works fine... my wireless device is an Intel PRO/Wireless 3945.

Experiencing the same problem here.
I have a laptop with a Core 2 Duo, one of the cpu's is at a constant 100% (after the top-command, I identified "lshw" as being the cause, under user root).
I am running Hardy Heron 8.04 with all the updates too, and have an Intel 4965agn wireless card.
The rest of my desktop works fine, but this process never ends so my laptop gets very hot.
