Bug Description

Ubuntu Hardy RC LiveCD

Although I have set a location and can see the weather in the time applet when I've opened the whole tab, I don't see weather or temperatur next to the time in the collapsed applet. I've seen in screenshots that it should be there.

I also have this problem. The collapsed World Clock Applet does not display the weather nor temperature when they are checked under preferences. I am running Hardy 64-bit and which was upgraded from Gutsy.

In my installed version, it works perfectly.

Thank you for your bug report. Did you configure a location? Are the weather information correctly displayed for this one?

The locations are set correctly under preferences. Whenever I've expanded the applet the weather was shown correctly. Unfortunately I also have the problem where it freezes the whole panel when I click to expand the clock. I added the separate gnome weather applet onto the panel and it displays the weather correctly.

I do have this problem too, just same as eviblujedi one.
Three hours ago, it seemed to work properly, but it doesn't work now.
Will it be the problem of the server of getting the weather information?
Thanks.

I also have the same problem. I have installed Ubuntu 8.04 to my home-PC (installation from 32-bit alternate installation CD to empty hard-drive) and the weather-data works perfectly. However, I upgraded my workplace PC from 7.10 to 8.04 and the time-date applet does not show the weather data. Location is set correctly. If I expand the applet, the weather is shown normally. I also noticed that if check/uncheck "Show weather" and "Show temperature" check-boxes on "Preferences" menu, the date-time display moves to right (when checking) or to left (when unchecking).

could you make a screenshot showing the issue, the clock applet open and the preferences dialog too?

Sorry, but I'm unable to do it :-(

I re-installed Ubuntu 8.04 to my workplace PC from alternate-install CD and now the weather applet works perfectly.

closing the bug since the current version works correctly, feel free to reopen if you get the issue again though

I seem to have got this same bug on my laptop running 32-bit Ubuntu 8.04.1. This Ubuntu was upgraded too from Feisty so the issue might come from that for some reason. Maybe there is a setting that isn't reset or reconfigured after an upgrade?

Why not? Should I create a new bug report instead and repeat everything said here?

I had this problem as well, but mine was due to not having a "home" location set. I had two locations since Hardy, and I didn't see temperature/weather until I upgraded to Intrepid, removed one location and set the other location as home.

Hope that helps.

I have since tested this on another machine. Clicking on the date/time and clicking the "Set" button next to the location fixed it.

This should be automatic if there's only one location, though...

I am running 9.04 and also do not see weather or temperature in the task bar, despite my settings and having set a location. If I open the applet I can hover over the sun icon and see the current conditions.

Same issue here on Karmic final. Was displaying well until a week ago. I added another location to the list. Then the taskbar display just disappeared. Tried - removing second location, removing the /etc/timezone, readding my location several times. Doesn't work.

However expanding the applet clearly displays weather info. See attachment.

I've had same problem (upgrade from 8.04 -> 8.10 -> 9.04 - > 9.10) but using Josh's trick "Clicking on the date/time and clicking the "Set" button next to the location fixed it" it works
