Bug Description

Binary package hint: cfengine2

I have some cfengine editfiles replacements that look like this:
ReplaceFirst "^#$(group)[[:blank:]]+" With ""

Upgrading to hardy and cfengine 2.2.3 has problems with this and aborts the entire cfengine run.

This seems to be fixed in cfengine 2.2.4. I'm attaching the patches for it. I have built 2.2.3 with these patches applied and my cfengine configuration now works fine.

Please consider applying these patches for hardy. I can't really think of a good way to work around the bug.

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 or 9.04?

This is fixed in cfengine 2.2.4, so if 8.10 has a cfengine version >= 2.2.4 it is fixed.

Ubuntu 8.10 uses cfengine 2.2.7, which still suffers from a serious bug:

I've been using the Ubuntu (jaunty) and Debian (lenny) builds of 2.2.8-1 on both Ubuntu 8.04 and 8.10 to avoid this.

It would be nice to get that 2.2.8-1 release into the updates repository for Ubuntu 8.04 ad 8.10, but there does not seem to be a Ubuntu maintainer for cfengine.
